A Clear Path From Start to Finish
We believe in keeping the process simple and transparent. You are never committed to anything until you choose to proceed after receiving your quote. Here is what happens at each stage.
Step 1: Your Enquiry
Everything starts with you telling us about your home and what you want to power. You can do this through our quote form or by calling us on 0141 230 0198. We need a few basic details: your postcode, the wellness equipment you have or plan to get (sauna, hot tub, cold plunge, garden cabin or a combination), and a rough idea of your roof and property type.
You do not need to know anything about solar or batteries at this stage. That is our job. We just need to understand what you are trying to achieve — running your sauna on stored solar, heating a hot tub without the running cost worry, or powering a garden wellness cabin off-grid. From your enquiry, we can tell you whether what you want is feasible and what the next steps are.
Step 2: The No-Obligation Survey
If your enquiry looks like a good fit, we arrange a survey at your home. This is a visit by a qualified assessor who looks at the practical details that determine what system you need. There is no charge for the survey and absolutely no obligation to proceed afterwards.
During the survey, the assessor checks:
- Roof orientation and condition — which way it faces, any shading from chimneys, trees or neighbouring buildings, and whether the structure is suitable for panels
- Available space — roof area for panels and internal or external space for battery storage
- Your electrical setup — the consumer unit, existing wiring, and any upgrades needed to accommodate the system
- Your wellness equipment — the wattage of your sauna heater, hot tub, cold plunge chiller or cabin heating, and how and when you use them
- Your usage patterns — when you typically use your sauna or hot tub, your household energy profile, and whether you are on a time-of-use tariff
The survey typically takes 1-2 hours. The assessor answers any questions you have and explains what they are looking at as they go.
Step 3: Your Tailored Quote
After the survey, you receive a written quote for a solar PV and battery system sized to your specific needs. The quote includes:
- The recommended solar array — panel count, total capacity and positioning
- The recommended battery storage — capacity and type
- Any electrical work needed at your consumer unit
- Installation details — timeline and what is involved
- The total price, reflecting 0% VAT on solar panels and batteries until 31 March 2027
You take the quote away and decide in your own time. There is no follow-up pressure. If you have questions about the quote, we are happy to talk them through. If you want to change something — add more battery capacity, adjust the panel layout — we can revise the quote.
Loans available, subject to status. If you are interested in spreading the cost, we can discuss finance options after your survey. We do not quote specific loan amounts upfront — that depends on the final system and your circumstances.
Step 4: Installation
If you decide to proceed, we coordinate with our MCS-certified partner to schedule your installation. A typical residential solar PV and battery installation takes 1-2 days, depending on system size and complexity.
What happens during installation:
- Day 1 (usually): Scaffolding is erected where needed. Solar panels are fitted to the roof with mounting rails and weatherproof fixings. The DC wiring from the panels to the inverter is run.
- Day 1-2: The inverter and battery storage are installed in the agreed location. The system is connected to your consumer unit. If your consumer unit needs upgrading to handle the new system, this is done as part of the installation.
- Commissioning: The system is tested, switched on and configured. The installer walks you through how it works — how to read the monitoring app, what the battery status means, and how to schedule your sauna or hot tub sessions to make best use of stored solar.
We install through MCS-certified partners, which means your installation meets the Microgeneration Certification Scheme standard. This matters for quality, for warranty, and for any future requirements related to your system.
Step 5: After Installation
Once your system is running, you start generating and storing solar energy. The monitoring app shows you how much your panels are generating, how much is going into the battery, and how much your home and wellness equipment are using. Over the first few months, you will get a feel for how your system behaves across different weather and seasons.
If you have any issues or questions after installation, support is available. Your installer provides warranty information and contact details for aftercare. The system is designed to run with minimal intervention — the smart management handles day-to-day energy routing, and you can adjust settings through the app.
Why This Process Works
The reason we survey before quoting is simple: a solar and battery system is not a commodity. A home in Edinburgh with a south-facing roof and a 4.5kW sauna needs a different system from a home in Fort William with an east-west roof and a hot tub plus cold plunge. A proper survey means the quote you receive is for the right system — not a guess, not a standard package, and not something that turns out to be undersized or oversized once installed.
And because the survey and quote are no-obligation, you have nothing to lose by finding out what would work for your home. If the quote is not right for you, that is fine — you walk away with a clearer understanding of what is involved, at no cost.
